UB’s Confucius Institute and the Chinese Club of Western New York will present their sixth annual Chinese New Year celebration on Feb. 7 at UB’s Center for the Arts.
Applications to UB are 10.3 percent higher than at this time last year, and university officials are attributing the increase partly to greater awareness of UB’s status as one of the nation’s top public universities.
Thirty-four of the University at Buffalo’s most promising students take a five-day tour of projects and personalities reshaping Buffalo in a week-long seminar designed to groom and educate future area leaders.
UB President Satish K. Tripathi applauded Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s proposal to extend the NYSUNY 2020 predictable tuition program, saying it will enable UB to build even further on the strong momentum created by the the program.
UB was awarded $2 million by SUNY to develop two new programs designed to help students complete their degrees and obtain successful employment upon graduation.
UB will launch a new department at the end of the current semester dedicated to the academic study of the Jewish intellectual tradition in the development of Western civilization.
“Excelsior” – meaning “ever upward” – is New York State’s official motto, and upward-looking UB Law School seniors are now eligible for the governor’s Excelsior Service Fellowship Program.
