Thousands of UB students will don caps and gowns this week as families fly in from around the world to attend UB’s commencement celebrations.

More than 200 UB student volunteers plan to fan out throughout the Buffalo community volunteering nearly 600 hours of service as part of UB Pride & Service Day.

Each team will receive $10,000 to further their company.

From May 8-15, UB student volunteers will be stationed at three collection sites where resident students can dispose of items they no longer want, and which will be resold at a large yard sale in the fall.

Eight UB students have won prestigious scholarships and awards in this year’s National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program.

Some 5,846 students are candidates to receive degrees during UB's commencement ceremonies from April 29 through May 21.

The event, sponsored by M&T Bank and UB groups, gives gamers a chance to showcase their skills.
