    Jennifer B. Wozniak of Buffalo, who received an MBA degree in 1996 from the University at Buffalo School of Management, has been elected to serve a one-year term as president of the UB Alumni Association.

    The University at Buffalo's Office of Alumni Relations has won a Gold award for its new Web site from CASE, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, which represents more than 3,000 colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and 42 other countries.

    Huh Sung-kwan, who received an MBA and doctoral degree from the University at Buffalo School of Management in 1982 and 1986, respectively, has been appointed head of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MOMAF) in the cabinet of Roh Moo-hyun, the new president of the Republic of Korea.

    "Muddy, Muddy Buffalo" is the theme of this year's Oozfest, the annual mud volleyball tournament sponsored by the University at Buffalo's Student Alumni Board and slated for April 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Mud Pit on St. Rita's Lane behind UB Stadium on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

    Zhou Ji, a distinguished researcher and scholar who received master's and doctoral degrees in mechanical and aerospace engineering from the University at Buffalo School of Engineering and Applied Science, has been named minister of education of the People's Republic of China.

  • UB Graduate James Foley to Premiere New Film in Buffalo

    For the second time this academic year, a film directed by a University at Buffalo alumnus will premiere in the Buffalo area. "Confidence," the new film directed by James Foley, B.A. '74, whose credits include "Reckless," "At Close Range," "Glengarry Glen Ross" and "The Chamber," will premiere on March 31 in the Market Arcade Film and Arts Centre, 639 Main St., Buffalo.

    A retired vice president of General Electric Co. who has had an extensive impact on the nation's nuclear energy and electrical power programs will receive the University at Buffalo Alumni Association's most prestigious award at the UB Alumni Association's Celebration of Excellence Dinner on April 4. Nine other individuals, including 6 UB alumni, also will receive awards at the dinner.
