The University at Buffalo Alumni Association will present its highest honor, the Samuel P. Capen Award, to J. Grant Hauber, B.S. '48, at the association's Achievement Awards Ceremony, to be held at 6 p.m. April 28 in the Adam's Mark Hotel.
David E. Brown, a law partner of the late Carmen P. Tarantino, has honored Tarantino's memory with a $313,500 memorial scholarship to the University at Buffalo Law School. The gift will support a full-tuition scholarship for three years for a deserving student in perpetuity.
Charles C. Swanekamp of East Amherst, who earned two degrees from the University at Buffalo, has been elected to serve a two-year term as president of the UB Alumni Association.

"Absolute Mud" is the theme for Oozfest 2005, the annual mud volleyball tournament sponsored by the University at Buffalo's Student Alumni Board (USAB), which will be held on April 30 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Mud Pit on St. Rita's Lane behind UB Stadium on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.
The University at Buffalo Alumni Association's UB at Sunrise Downtown Speaker Series kicks off its spring season with a presentation by William R. Greiner, University Professor, chair of the Greater Buffalo Commission and former UB president. Greiner will discuss "The Regional City of Buffalo...the Merging of Buffalo and Erie County Governments."

Honored for his service to the University at Buffalo, the community and the medical profession, Ronald "Skip" Garvey, M.D. '53, chairman for Brit Systems, Inc., has received the UB Medical Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award.
