A scholarship established by the University at Buffalo Alumni Association in 2007 was renamed in honor of Willie R. Evans, Ed.B. '60, during the association's awards ceremony on March 20.

If you and your child are romping in the park or enjoying a stroll on a warm spring day and a dog approaches, be ultra vigilant. Children, warm weather, and dogs, even family dogs, don't mix well, according to a study conducted by pediatric otolaryngologists from the University at Buffalo's School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

To the many problems associated with lack of sleep -- moodiness, memory problems, difficulty concentrating -- add the risk of developing diabetes. A study from the University at Buffalo shows that people who sleep less than six hours a night during the work-week are 4.5 times more likely to have elevated levels of blood sugar than those who slumber 6-8 hours.

The University at Buffalo Alumni Association will honor 20 individuals with achievement awards at a gala to be held March 20 in the Adam's Mark Hotel, 120 Church St.

The University at Buffalo will offer the first UB Coast to Coast Entertainment and Media Conference June 27-28 in Los Angeles. Created specifically for UB alumni, students and friends of UB, but open to the public, UBC2C will feature workshops in acting, writing, directing, music production, independent film production and marketing, as well as entertainment business marketing, taught by UB industry alumni.

The namesake of Fay's Drugs, Faye Panasci, has given $1 million to the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, where her husband and father-in-law began their quest to build the highly successful chain of pharmacies that catered to their customers' every need.

Internet expert Hsinchun Chen, McClelland Professor of Management Information Systems at the University of Arizona, will speak at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 in 104 Alfiero Center on the UB North (Amherst) Campus.

The University at Buffalo will roll out the blue carpet for more than 30,000 people -- more even than gathered at the UB Stadium in 2006 for the speech by His Holiness the Dalai Lama -- when it celebrates True Blue Weekend Oct. 16-19.

H. William Lichtenberger has made a $1 million gift to the University at Buffalo School of Management to establish an endowed professorship. The H. William Lichtenberger Professor of Global Services and Supply Management was created to help the UB School of Management attract and retain top talent and build its Global Services and Supply Management program.
