  • Dr. Philip B. Wels Outstanding Service Award: University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association

    Since its inception in 1892, the University at Buffalo Dental Alumni Association has continued to serve the university, academia, the community and the profession. Its active partnership with the UB Alumni Association has recently expanded to offer dual membership for its affiliates.
  • George W. Thorn Award: Gary A. Baker, PhD '02, of Knoxville, Tenn.

    Gary Baker, one of 12 to be awarded the 2009 Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, is a leader in the synthesis and application of environmentally benign solvents, including supercritical fluids and ionic liquids, a new type of solvent composed entirely of ions.
  • James McNally, EdM '68 & BS '66, of Orchard Park, N.Y.

    Since his retirement from NFL coaching in 2007, Jim McNally has volunteered tirelessly for UB Athletics. He has made his mark by turning the annual UB football reunion into a premier event, now attended by hundreds of former players. He has personally communicated with more than 1,500 individuals about the reunion, and assisted in planning and organizing a full weekend of events.
  • Tae Hyun Moon, J. Scott Fleming Scholarship Award Recipient

    Tae Hyun Moon, from South Korea, is a senior majoring in business administration with a concentration in marketing. He is the vice president of marketing for Pi Sigma Epsilon, a student organization in the School of Management, and is in charge of creating and managing marketing projects for the organization and its client companies. Moon also works as a UB Ambassador and is in charge of marketing to and consulting with prospective UB students from South Korea. He also works as a student assistant in the International Admissions office and helps process applications from prospective international students.
  • Frances M. Sansone, MS '91, of Eggertsville, N.Y.

    Frances Sansone is a retired associate professor from the School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. She joined the Emeritus Center in 1999 and began participating in the REV-UP program, supporting a number of areas such as alumni, campus bloodmobiles, Empire State Games, human resources, music, Professional Staff Senate and the Special Olympics.

  • Grand Opening: UB School of Nursing to Celebrate Its New Home

    The University at Buffalo School of Nursing will unveil its new home and innovative academic approach with a grand opening and tour of renovated clinical facilities and research space -- including exclusive, live interviews with its talking "patient" mannequins -- at 4:30 p.m. today (Tuesday, March 16) in Wende Hall on the university's South Campus.
  • Prize-winning Irish Architects O'Donnell + Tuomey to Present UB Martell Lecture

    Sheila O'Donnell and John Tuomey, principles in the Irish architectural practice O'Donnell + Tuomey, will present the Martell Lecture in the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning March 22 at 5:30 p.m. in 301 Crosby Hall, UB South Campus. The illustrated talk will be free and open to the public.
