  • Cheng Named 1 of 10 Young Researchers to Receive Grant Through James D. Watson Investigator Program

    Richard P. Cheng, Ph.D., Jere Solo Assistant Professor of Medicinal Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo, has received a $200,000 grant through a new state program designed to recognize and support outstanding scientists and engineers who, early in their careers, show potential for leadership and scientific discovery in the field of biotechnology.

    Pamela S. Benson, a 1976 graduate of the University at Buffalo who is a senior reporter with Cable News Network, will offer her observations on "The Global Media and the 'CNN Effect'" during a lecture at 4 p.m. Oct. 21 in the Student Union Theatre on the UB North (Amherst ) Campus.

  • Crosby Hall Closed; University Repairing Damage Resulting from Steam-Pipe Accident on Wednesday

    The University at Buffalo today began assessing damage in Crosby Hall on the UB South (Main Street) Campus, where a steam-pipe accident Wednesday afternoon resulted in the death of a 25-year UB employee. Crosby Hall will be closed for classes and other activities at least through Sunday. Students, faculty and staff in the School of Architecture and Planning should call 829-3485 over the weekend for information on Crosby Hall's reopening. The employee who died in the accident has been identified by the university as David L. Shrader, 48, of Eden.
