  • UB to Host American College Dance Festival March 12-15

    The University at Buffalo Center for the Arts and the UB Department of Theatre and Dance will host the American College Dance Festival, March 12-15. More than 600 university dance students and faculty from Western New York and throughout the Northeast will convene on the campus for the four-day festival, which includes master classes, concerts and panel discussions. In addition, a panel of internationally renowned guest artists will adjudicate dance works presented by the participants.

    Works by legendary bookmaker and printer Walter S. Hamady from the holdings of the University at Buffalo Poetry and Rare Books Collection will be exhibited at the Grolier Club in New York City, the oldest and largest society for book lovers in the United States.
  • Astronaut Mae Jemison to Deliver King Address at UB

    Mae C. Jemison, astronaut, physician, engineer and entrepreneur, will deliver the keynote address at the 27th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration Event on Feb. 27 at the University at Buffalo. Jemison was the first woman of color to go into space when she blasted into orbit as a mission specialist aboard the space shuttle Endeavour on Sept. 12, 1992.

    The University at Buffalo Center for Advanced Technology (CAT) is awarding $2 million in funding to support 11 industry-university collaborative projects ranging from the development of a diagnostic medical device to a bioinformatics tool for virtual cloning.
