Eleven University at Buffalo faculty members were named on eight patents issued to The Research Foundation of State University of New York in 2005. Two of these patented technologies have already been licensed to companies that will bring new products to the market.

Isaac Ehrlich, UB Distinguished Professor and chair of the Department of Economics in the University at Buffalo's College of Arts and Sciences, and Melvin H. Baker Professor of American Enterprise in the UB School of Management, has been named a SUNY Distinguished Professor for having achieved national or international prominence and an established reputation in his or her field of expertise.

This fall, Paras N. Prasad, Ph.D., SUNY Distinguished Professor in the Department of Chemistry at UB and executive director of its Institute for Lasers, Photonics and Biophotonics, will travel to China to receive the honorary professorship in a dedication ceremony at Zhejiang University (ZJU), one of China's top research universities.

Officials of the University at Buffalo and Fulton Montgomery Community College (FMCC) have signed a new dual-admission program agreement designed to increase the number of students transferring with associate's degrees from FMCC to parallel degree programs at UB.
