    Deborah Reed-Danahay, PhD, of Buffalo, professor of anthropology at the University at Buffalo, has been awarded a Yip Fellowship at Magdalene College, Cambridge University, for the 2012 Michaelmas (October to Christmas) term.
  • Study Links Gum Disease and HPV-status of Head and Neck Cancer

    Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), once almost exclusively associated with cancer of the cervix, is now linked to head and neck cancer. According to a new University at Buffalo study just published in the Archives of Otolaryngology -- Head & Neck Surgery, a JAMA publication, gum disease is associated with increased odds of tumors being HPV-positive.

    The Buffalo Police Department has reported that Dr. Timothy V. Jorden Jr., a person of interest in the fatal shooting of Jacqueline Wisniewski at the Erie County Medical Center on June 13, has been found dead today, June 15.
