Jacob Kathman studies conflict processes including issues of civil war, interstate conflict, civilian victimization, United Nations peacekeeping and the various means of conflict management.

Jacob can speak to the media about comparative politics and international relations.

He is the co-author of the book “Peacekeeping in the Midst of War,” which examines if United Nations peacekeeping missions are effective at reducing violence in civil wars. His work has been published in Oxford University Press, The American Political Science Review, American Journal of Political Science, Journal of Politics, British Journal of Political Science, Political Research Quarterly, International Studies Quarterly, and elsewhere.
