Amanda Hassinger is a fellowship-trained sleep medicine physician who is also aboard-certified pediatrician and pediatric critical care specialist who can speak to media about any aspect of sleep medicine in children including bedtime refusal, nightmares, sleep walking, frequent awakenings, bedwetting, poor sleep, snoring, insomnia, daytime sleepiness and sleep apnea.

She can discuss how conditions such as autism, obesity and premature birth may contribute to sleep difficulties in children.

Hassinger developed the only Sleep Medicine Center in Western New York dedicated to the sleep problems of children.

She  can speak about how to promote good sleep hygiene and how parents can help their children navigate transitions, like going back to school in the fall. She can also discuss when sleep problems are serious enough to warrant being seen by a professional.

Hassinger is medical director of the UBMD Pediatrics Sleep Lab at Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo and is also an active researcher on the sleep patterns of children when they are admitted to a pediatric intensive care unit.
