High-risk pregnancies, managing pregnant patients with chronic conditions, health inequities in maternal health
Thaddeus (Ted) l Waters, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist, is an expert in high-risk pregnancies and how to ensure healthy outcomes for both the pregnant patient and the baby. He can talk to media about diagnosing and treating complications that arise as a result of chronic health conditions, such as hypertension and diabetes, in pregnant patients.
He can also discuss how social determinants of health lead to inequities in maternal health and how they can be addressed as well as the growing disparities between patients in urban vs. rural areas.
Waters conducts research into maternal and fetal issues including postpartum hypertension, mental health, maternal morbidity and mortality, prematurity, and gestational diabetes.
A physician with UBMD OB-GYN, he previously was director of the WNY Regional Perinatal Center and served on the NYS Maternal Morbidity and Mortality Board.
