Broadview Federal Credit Union is committing $15,000 to UB’s Horns Up for Hope, a monthlong food and winter clothing drive supporting local community members in need, running through Dec. 5.

The funds will support Blue Table, a food pantry for UB students who do not have access to food due to an emergency. The program, run through Student Life, is available to offset unanticipated hardship and short-term food insecurity, and is supported through generous gifts from the UB and Buffalo communities.

“The Division of Student Life values partnerships that strengthen and support the UB student experience,” says Brian Hamluk, vice president for student life. “This recent commitment by Broadview Federal Credit Union to our Blue Table student food pantry initiative is just another great example of the tremendous impact Broadview extends to our campus and community. We look forward to future collaborations that bring immediate and impactful support to the students we serve.”

Blue Table is located in the Student Union on the North Campus and is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday during the fall and spring semesters. It  offers a menu of healthy, shelf-stable food options, as well as grab-and-go options like sandwiches and salads. Personal care and hygiene products are also available. Individuals can make gifts to the Blue Table Fund here.

"UB’s commitment to caring for its students and the broader community is inspiring," says Broadview CEO Michael Castellana. “Programs like Blue Table remind us that collaboration is key — when we unite around a shared purpose, we create opportunities that extend far beyond campus. Supporting these efforts is an investment in the future of Western New York.”

This commitment is part of Broadview’s recent $100,000 donation in support of Buffalo hunger relief efforts and nonprofit organizations. The funding is intended to help food pantries respond to the partial suspension of SNAP allocations.

Broadview has a branch in UB Commons and is also a proud supporter of UB Athletics.
