Changing Your Major to Exploratory (Undecided)

Choosing a different academic path is a common part of the college experience. If you’re considering changing your major to Exploratory (Undecided), please review the information below before submitting your request.

Tips before you decide.

  • Exploratory is not a degree program. Students need to have an approved major by 60 credits completed to maintain academic progress and timely degree completion.
  • Dropping or changing your major may impact financial aid eligibility. Students are advised to consult financial aid before dropping or changing their major to exploratory.
  • Any student can benefit from talking with an EPAC advisor before deciding to change to exploratory. Contact EPAC at 716-645-6013 or exploratory-advising@buffalo.edu.
  • Students who wish to leave their current major and explore a new major can contact the appropriate advising office directly for further information and assistance.

To change to exploratory, use this Major/Minor Request Form.

An EPAC advisor will contact you via UB email to discuss the change before making the change. Requests are typically processed within 3-5 business days.
