Whether you are an undergraduate transitioning from on-campus housing or a graduate student moving to Buffalo for the first time, we’re here to support you.
Before you sign a lease to live off-campus, make sure you do the following:
Basic expectations for tenants:
Start your off-campus housing search early. Apartments can fill up quickly, and rates can increase as the start of the school year draws closer. Consider the cost, safety, commute, parking and other factors.
When you enroll for classes each semester, update your contact information listed with the university through the HUB Student Center. “Current local address” should be the address at which you reside during the week while attending classes.
Even if you do not own a car, there are many options available, including public transportation, shuttles, walking and bicycling.
As a UB student, you are expected to behave responsibly, be aware of your surroundings, and adhere to federal and local laws, as well as to the Code of Student Conduct and university policies.
The Code of Student Conduct applies to all UB students, regardless of whether a violation occurs on or off-campus.
Be aware of your responsibilities when you live off campus:
Volunteering is a fantastic way to forge new connections and meet new people. Engaging in community service fosters a sense of belonging and strengthens the bonds within your neighborhood.
Buffalo is known as the City of Good Neighbors, and offers housing opportunities near UB’s North Campus, South Campus and Downtown Campus.
