At the start of every new school year the Office of Community Relations works with offices and departments campus-wide to collect school supplies that are then donated to schools throughout the City of Buffalo.

About the drive

A very popular initiative on campus, the School Supply Drive involves partnership with over 40 departments and collects over 17 thousand items provided by our generous employees. Our office distributes the supplies to elementary and middle schools in the City of Buffalo.

Important dates

  • Late June: UB Departments and offices are contacted to confirm participation
  • July 12th: Collection boxes are dropped off campus-wide
  • August 31st: End of drive, and supplies are collected from departments and offices
  • September: Supplies are distributed to partnering schools

North Campus:

Supplies needed

Needed supplies contributed by our employees include:

Tissues, hand soap, cleaning supplies, book bags, crayons and pencils, notebooks, folders, scissors, glue sticks, erasers, rulers, highlighters, index cards, binders, pens, makers, planners, and calculators.
