This workshop series is intended for all participants to learn how to excel during their Master’s degree, as well what to do after graduation

Structure: CLIMB Pathways participants will attend two workshops a month, once in person, and once via a set of online videos. In person sessions are tailored for topics that are more open to discussion and dialogue, whereas video sessions are more informational and instructive. Participants are expected to attend all sessions, both in person and online.

Fall and Spring Semester, 1st year

Overview: These workshops are intended for all CLIMB Pathways participants to learn how to excel during their Master’s degree program and beyond. Workshops are designed to give participants practical skills for choosing a lab and a mentor, effectively working with others, and how to prepare and deliver a scientific presentation.

Structure: CLIMB Pathways participants will attend two workshops a month, one in person and one via a set of online videos. In person sessions are tailored for topics that are more open to discussion and dialogue, whereas video sessions are more informational and instructive. In order to be eligible to receive a digital badge for CLIMB Pathways, participants must complete workshop assignments as described below. Workshop assignments are to be uploaded to UB Learns no later than the start of the following workshop. If a participant cannot attend a workshop, s/he will still be required to upload the workshop assignments to UB Learns by the due date. Any questions may be directed to the CLIMB Pathways Workshop Coordinator and Instructor (hlnorris@buffalo.edu / 716-829-6268).  

Participation: Participants are expected to attend all in person and online sessions in order to be eligible to receive a digital badge for CLIMB Pathways. IF a participant cannot attend a workshop, s/he will be required to communicate with the CLIMB Pathways Workshop Coordinator and Instructor (hlnorris@buffalo.edu / 716-829-6268) and arrangements will be made for dissemination of workshop materials (i.e., video recordings, PowerPoint presentations, handouts, etc.) The participant will be required to review the workshop materials and complete the workshop assignment.
