CLIMB UP Summer 2023

CLIMB UP will be held during Summer 2023.  We expect to provide air travel and housing fellowships for Summer 2023, so all applicants are encouraged to apply. 

Please note: these plans may change due to unforseen circumstances related to the continued COVID-19 pandemic. Relevant updates will be posted here as they are announced.  

Note to 2023 Applicants:

CLIMB UP Summer 2023 Application OPENS November 22, 2022.

APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED: February 8, 2023

Once you have applied:

  • You will receive completion status updates in the form of an email as applications are processed.
  • Acceptance letters will BEGIN being sent in late February. Continue to monitor your emails, as our admission process is gradual and based on rate of acceptances/declinations. We appreciate your patience.

 

Required Documents

The application will require you to upload the following (as PDF files):

a. Personal statement describing interest in research and career goals*

    -Please tell us in 2 pages or less:

  • Why do you want to do research, and how does this research experience relate to your personal goals?
  • Do you have any experiences that qualify you to undertake such research?
  • Have you encountered challenges that have affected your educational career, either positively or negatively?
  • Do you have any specific prior life experiences (in academia, professional, volunteer, etc.) that show your dedication to the pursuit of advanced degrees in the sciences?
  • Is there any additional information that will help us evaluate your preparation and ability to succeed?

b. Your most recent resume or CV

c. Your latest academic transcript (unofficial copies are acceptable).

d. Letters of recommendation (may be submitted through the application OR through the link below)*

Letters of Recommendation

Two (2) letters of recommendation from people who know you well (professor, advisor, supervisor, etc) should be sent directly to the program via this web page. We strongly recommend that at least one of your letters be from someone who can comment specifically about your experience in research.

*If your letter writers have given you permission to read the letters and have provided them to you, you MAY submit one or both of the letters through the application website along with your other documents. If you submit your application without letters, please have the letters uploaded through the button below- do not go back and re-submit your application just to upload a letter. 

NOTE TO LETTER WRITERS: Please name the file this way: StudentLastName_CLIMBUPRec (ie, Wilson_CLIMBUPRec)

Letters should be submitted by February 1. Please request them well in advance!
