Shambhu Upadhyaya

Shambhu Upadhyaya is a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University at Buffalo where he also directs the Center of Excellence in Information Systems Assurance Research and Education (CEISARE)

Upadhyaya's research focuses on protecting the United States’ infrastructure from cyber threats. That includes electric power grids, transportation systems, financial networks, military assets and water supplies.

He has authored over 300 articles in refereed journals and conferences. His current projects involve insider threat assessment, continuous authentication, and deception to deal with advanced persistent threats. In 2017, he developed and offered one of the first public courses on coursera.org: Digital Manufacturing Security. He is a recipient of the IEEE Region 1 Technological Innovation in Academic Award in 2018. He is a Fellow of IEEE.
