Sam Abramovich

Dr. Sam Abramovich is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo (UB), with joint appointments in the Departments of Learning and Instruction and Information Science. He directs the UB Open Education Research Lab and serves as a Faculty Fellow for UB’s Office of Micro-Credentials. 

Dr. Abramovich’s  research examines the intersection of emerging technologies, assessment, and the learning sciences—particularly how digital tools and generative AI reshape evidence of learning and public trust in information.

His recent projects include developing frameworks for evaluating micro-credential value and assessing the AI susceptibility of K–12 standardized tests. As one of the inagural SUNY “AI for the Public Good” Fellows, he leads efforts to advance AI literacy and ethical technology use across higher education. He has published and presented on technology-enhanced learning, credibility of educational data, and evidence-based design. His work contributes to understanding how educational systems can support information integrity, transparency, and equitable access to trustworthy learning technologies.
