Michael E. Cain

Department of Medicine

Michael Cain, MD, is a professor of medicine and biomedical engineering. A leader, scholar and teacher, Cain is an internationally recognized cardiovascular physician-scientist who specializes in abnormal heart rhythms. He is a champion for broad health system transformation to improve health outcomes, control costs and improve health equity in the Western New York region. Cain served the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences as dean for 15 years and was UB’s vice president for health sciences for a decade. He has been recognized for his long-term leadership roles with the Heart Rhythm Society (Distinguished Service Award), the Scientific Board of The Sarnoff Endowment for Cardiovascular Science (Stanley J. Sarnoff Spirit Award), and the American Heart Association (Arthur E. Strauss Award), among others.
