High School Workshop Application

Thank you for your interest in this year's Eric Pitman Annual Summer Workshop in Computational Science. For this application, you will need to provide the following:

List of math and science courses you've taken in high school, and whatever experience you have in computing, if any.
Your overall GPA (grade point average)
A letter of recommendation from one of your math, science or programming teachers
A cover letter written by you describing why you want to participate in the program
Confirmation that you've notified your parent(s) of this application and they are aware that if selected, you'd need transportation to the UB medical campus (701 Ellicott St, Buffalo, NY 14203) for 4 days at the end of June and beginning of July. The hours of the workshop are 9:30am-4:00pm Monday-Thursday and students MUST be able to attend each day of the workshop. NOTE: This workshop is restricted to students who have completed at least one year of high school, taken a year of high school algebra, and at least one high school science course - Biology, Chemistry or Physics. Because of the topic of the projects this year, preference will be given to students who have taken additional Math and Chemistry courses. Students do not need a background in computing but they do need a good foundation in Math and Science and a willingness to learn some computing.

Workshop application deadline is May 1, 2025. Spots are limited! Accepted candidates will be notified after applications close.

Lunch is provided daily during the workshop. Do you have any dietary restrictions (allergies, gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian/vegan, etc)?
