Description

An exhibition of artists and their influencers from UB Art Galleries & the UB Poetry Collection

Drawn from the collections of the UB Art Galleries and the UB Poetry Collection, this exhibition focuses on collaboration, community, and cultural influence between artists, poets, writers, composers, gallerists, teachers, and friends.

The inter-media connections on display are sometimes a memorial to mentors that artists admired, sometimes a dialogue with a beloved poet, or sometimes a joke between friends, ranging from the large scale to the small and personal. Artists represented include Helen Adam and Kiki Smith, Virginia Admiral, Josef Albers, Richard Anuskiewicz, Karel Appel, Harvey Breverman, John Cage, Salvador Dalí, Michael Goldberg and Bill Berkson, Grace Hartigan, Fran Herndon, Martha Jackson, Jess, Lester Johnson, John Latham, Meg Lipke, Joan Mitchell, Elizabeth Murray and Anne Waldman, Claes Oldenburg, and Julian Stanczak. Programming will include a lecture and conversation with Ada Calhoun, workshops, activity booklets, and a community day particularly for the neighborhood surrounding UB Anderson Gallery.
