Our multidisciplinary research advances basic and clinical science; we translate those discoveries into clinical care that improves health in our communities. With our eyes on the future, we are increasing the number of students and trainees who pursue careers in research, biomedical science and academic medicine.

At the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, our dynamic research spans drug interaction, from discovery to development to clinical application. We are leading developments in precision pharmacotherapy, resulting in improved patient outcomes and development of future public policy initiatives.

From our founding as an engineering school in 1946, the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences builds upon its proud legacy of excellent educational programs and world-class research. We engage in fundamental research and pioneer new technologies that address big challenges faced by society.  

The School of Dental Medicine helps solve some of the most complex problems in oral health — from improving dental materials to developing new approaches to treat periodontal disease. As one of the leading dental schools in the United States with respect to grant and contract awards for research, we are recognized both nationally and internationally for our life-changing dental research.

Faculty and students in the School of Public Health and Health Professions are actively engaged in creating knowledge and producing innovative solutions to critical health challenges for individuals, communities and populations. We participate in interdisciplinary research collaborations within UB and with local, regional, national and international organizations, including Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Faculty at the School of Social Work are a diverse community of scholars, teachers and activists for change with interests that span the globe from India to Canada, from Pakistan to Korea, from the United States to the United Kingdom. We share a common passion for community-university partnerships in research and practice.
