Eat wings, fight cancer

UB faculty and staff who eat at Buffalo Wild Wings’ Niagara Falls Boulevard location tomorrow can help UB Against Cancer raise money for the annual Relay For Life fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The restaurant, located at 1620 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda, will donate 10 percent of diners’ total bill — not including tax, tip or promotional discounts — from 11 a.m. to close on April 6 to Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society. Diners should present to their server a special ticket they will receive upon entering the restaurant.

UB’s annual Relay For Life event will take place April 16-17 in Alumni Arena. It is one of 6,000 such events worldwide.

During these relays, individuals and teams camp out and take turns walking or running around a track “relay-style” to raise funds to fight cancer. At nightfall, participants light hundreds of luminaria around the track to honor cancer survivors, as well as remember those who have died from the disease.

Last year’s Relay For Life at UB raised $61,031, an amount the club hopes to surpass this year.

Those interested in participating in the Relay For Life can sign up online.
