UB employees have an opportunity to make an immediate impact on students and the university community by participating in the 2016 Faces of UB Giving effort, which launched March 1.

“During the campaign, we’re asking faculty and staff to make a gift to UB,” says Dawn Baumgarten, director of annual giving. “Last fiscal year, more than 1,100 faculty and staff gave, and this year the goal is for even more to participate during the six-week effort.

“Faculty and staff who make an annual gift are really responsible for enhancing the student experience, from making study abroad possible to providing scholarships to supporting clubs and activities,” Baumgarten says.

Student callers have begun contacting faculty and staff to remind them of the campaign and ask them to participate. A volunteer committee comprising faculty and staff donors is helping drive the campaign, demonstrating that giving to UB is widespread among their peers.

“Everyone needs to be part of the process of giving to support academic opportunity and achievement,” says donor Terry Winkelman, clinical associate professor in the School of Nursing. “After all, it ‘takes a village’ to nurture our young professionals.”
