UB launches search for VP, CIO

UB has launched the search for the university’s next vice president and chief information officer.

Ananth Iyer, dean of the School of Management, will serve as chair of the search committee that will seek a successor to J. Brice Bible, who is leaving UB to take on the same role at the University of South Carolina.

“The position of vice president and chief information officer is essential to helping us realize our shared vision for UB,” President Satish K. Tripathi said in an email to the university community announcing that the search was underway. “As we continue to rise in the ranks of the nation’s public research universities, it is critical that we elevate every facet of education, research and the student experience.

“Our vice president and chief information officer will be instrumental in the delivery of a robust and innovative information technology infrastructure to advance the university’s research and educational mission.”

The search committee includes UB senior leadership, faculty, and staff. Members are:

  • Keith Alford, dean, School of Social Work.
  • Martin Camacho, assistant dean for technology and CAS HIPAA security official, College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Beth Del Genio, chief of staff to the president and vice president for government and community relations.
  • Sanjukta Das Smith, associate professor and chair, Department of Management Science and Systems, School of Management.
  • Ebony Dixon, associate vice provost and director of admissions and enrollment.
  • David Doermann, SUNY Empire Innovation Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
  • Marc Halterman, professor and senior associate dean for research, health sciences, Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
  • Laura Hubbard, vice president for finance and administration.
  • Kelly Kenline, assistant CIO, director of strategic portfolio management and interim director, Enterprise Application Services.
  • Suzanne Laychock, senior associate dean for faculty affairs and professor of pharmacology and toxicology, Jacobs School.
  • Albert Titus, associate vice president for regulatory support, research and economic development, and professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Jacobs School and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
  • Evviva Weinraub, vice provost for university libraries.

Russell Reynolds Associates is assisting the search committee.

The search committee will begin its work shortly. Iyer will update the university community on the committee’s progress in the coming months. Information also will be available on the search website.
