Fred Stoss has been elected chair of the Faculty Senate and Tim Tryjankowski has been re-elected chair of the Professional Staff Senate in recent elections held by the governance groups representing UB’s faculty and professional staff.

Both are filling two-year terms that run from July 1 through June 30, 2023.

Tryjankowski, director of research and co-curricular activities for the University Honors College, ran unopposed.

Stoss, a librarian specializing in the sciences, defeated current Faculty Senate Chair Robert Miletich, professor and interim chair of the Department of Nuclear Medicine.

In the PSS election, members also re-elected Don Erb, senior sustainability associate for UB’s Student Unions, as vice chair, and elected Catherine Donnelly, social media and web specialist, Marketing and Communications, as secretary.

The Faculty Senate secretary position is currently filled by Jessy Alexander, research professor in the Department of Medicine. The position will be up for election next year.
