Published January 7, 2021

The committee leading the search for a new dean for the School of Social Work is holding a listening session to discuss campus interests and priorities for the search.

The virtual session will be held from 1-2 p.m. Jan. 25 via Zoom. Meeting ID: 983 5084 5230; Passcode: 259479.

Members of the university community who cannot attend the session but would like to offer input to the committee may do so online. The survey site will remain open for comments and questions throughout the search; all information collected is confidential.

A search website is live now with information on the search process, committee, communications, and application and nomination procedures. Additional information will be posted on the site as it becomes available.

The search is seeking a successor to Nancy J. Smyth, who is stepping down as dean at the end of the spring 2021 semester. Smyth will return to her faculty role as a professor of social work.

The search committee, chaired by Aviva Abramovsky, dean of the School of Law, will hold its initial meeting later this month and expects to conclude the search by the end of the spring semester.
