Marfa, Texas, singer/songwriter Sam Watts will perform an acoustic set of songs and stories inspired by his late grandfather and visual artist Sam Richardson, whose work is on view in the UB Anderson Gallery beginning June 8.

“Sam Watts: Songs and Stories” will take place from 4-6 p.m. June 9 in Duende at Silo City, 85 Silo City Row, Buffalo.

Watts formed the band Ghosts I’ve Met in Seattle, along with guitarist Ben Blankenship and cellist Brent Arnold, both formerly of the Seattle band Modest Mouse. Watts and company create songs that are simultaneously devastating and soothing, filled with hand-tinted photographic imagery.

The performance is sponsored by the UB Art Galleries in conjunction with “Sam Richardson: Intimate Landscape,” which opens at the UB Anderson Gallery with a public reception from 6-8 p.m. June 8. The exhibit is on view through Aug. 25.
