“Make. Media. Matter,” an exhibition of media art by PhD and MFA candidates in the Department of Media Study, will be on view Nov. 1 through Dec. 1 in the Second Floor Gallery of the UB Art Gallery in the Center for the Arts, North Campus.

An opening reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 1 in the gallery.

Presenting works that range from video and media installations to web and machine learning, the exhibition explores the relationship between human and machine, and their respective constitutions as entangled agencies. The artists examined the vast potential of media materiality embodied within video glitch, signal transmission, codes, magnetic storage and information technology.

Artists include Department of Media Study PhD candidates Maryam Muliaee, Scott Fitzgerald, Mani Mehrvarz, Kalpana Subramanian, Leonardo Aranda Brito and Anthony Yanick, and MFA candidate Annette Daniels Taylor. The exhibition is curated by Mani Mehrvarz, organized by the UB Art Galleries and supported by the Department of Media Study.
