UB students, think you’ve got a unique solution to a global problem? If so, stop by an informational session on Feb. 12 and learn about the World’s Challenge Challenge and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.

The information session will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in 210 Student Union, North Campus.

The World’s Challenge Challenge is an event hosted by Western University in London, Ontario. Teams of three students representing a range of academic disciplines are invited to present their ideas for addressing a global issue to a panel of academic and community leaders at each participating institution.

The top team from each partner university will earn a trip to Ontario to compete in the international finals in June. The top team takes home $30,000 and the silver medal team wins $15,000.

The challenge is centered around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, which build on the successes of the Millennium Development Goals, while including new areas such as climate change, economic inequality, innovation, sustainable consumption, peace and justice, among other priorities.

UB’s participation in the event is being sponsored by the Office of Sustainability and Blackstone Launchpad at UB.
