National Bike to Work Day is May 19 and Parking and Transportation Services is encouraging members of the UB community to take part in a healthy and safe alternative to driving to campus that day.

Those who bike to work that day can refresh at energizer stations at Main Circle on the South Campus and Founders Plaza on the North Campus. Cyclists who check in between 7:30-10 a.m. that day will find free refreshments, including juice, granola bars, fruit and water. They also will be eligible for raffle prizes, among them Bikeshare memberships and UB merchandise.

Participants are asked to register in advance.

Bike to Work Day is part of National Bike Month, an effort by national, regional and local bicycle advocacy groups to encourage people to try bicycle commuting as a healthy and safe alternative to driving by providing route information and tips for new bicycle commuters.

National Bike to Work Day has been endorsed by the American Medical Association as part of its push to encourage active transportation.
