Anthony O'Rourke, associate professor of law, will present the James Otis Lecture at the Robert H. Jackson Center’s National Constitution Day celebration on Sept. 16. The lecture will take place at 10:30 a.m. at the Robert H. Jackson federal courthouse in downtown Buffalo.

In his talk, titled “Protest and Constitutional Reform,” O’Rourke will discuss how movements like Black Lives Matter shape our understanding of the Constitution’s meaning, arguing that “the right to protest is the instrument by which ordinary citizens can work to make the Constitution stronger, more vital and a better reflection of our shared values.”

A faculty member at the UB School of Law since 2011, O’Rourke specializes in constitutional law, criminal Law and procedure, legal theory, legislation and statutory interpretation.
