Student Health Services is sponsoring flu vaccination clinics for the entire UB community next month at locations on the North and South campuses.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have identified vaccination as the “first and most important step” in protecting against the seasonal flu. CDC guidelines recommend that everyone age 6 months and older get a flu shot every year.

Faculty, staff and students should bring their insurance cards to these clinics since a flu shot is almost always covered by insurance. If insurance does not cover the cost, patients must pay the out-of-pocket fee of $28.99.

The schedule:

  • Oct. 6: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 252 Kapoor Hall, South Campus. This clinic is presented by the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; the Empire Plan is not accepted at this clinic only. Those who want to use insurance here must register online by Sept. 30. The cash payment at this clinic is $30.
  • Oct. 10: 2-9 p.m., Goodyear X, 10th floor of Goodyear Hall, South Campus.
  • Oct. 13: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 105 Harriman Hall, South Campus.
  • Oct. 14: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 105 Harriman.
  • Oct. 15: Noon to 5 p.m., C134 Greiner Hall, North Campus.
  • Oct. 19: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., 210 Student Union, North Campus.
  • Oct. 20: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Student Union Social Hall.
  • Oct. 25: 5-8:30 p.m., Crossroads Culinary Center, Ellicott Complex, North Campus.
  • Oct. 26: 5-8:30 p.m., Crossroads Culinary Center.

In addition, the School of Dental Medicine will hold flu vaccination clinics for its faculty, staff and students only from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 10 and from 2-4:30 p.m. Oct. 11-13, all in 157 Squire Hall, North Campus. The charge is $20 cash; no insurance is accepted at the SDM clinics.
