Parking, transportation changes in effect on Monday

Parking & Transportation Services has instituted some changes in parking and transportation services on Monday to accommodate appearances on the North Campus that day by Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and journalist Sarah Koenig.

UB is not cancelling classes on Monday and does not expect a major disruption to normal operations. Updates or information about changes in operations will be announced on the UB Alert website.

Tickets are not required for the Sanders rally, but RSVPs via the Sanders campaign are strongly encouraged. Please do not call the university about tickets or RSVPs.

The parking/transportations changes:

  • The UB Stampede will suspend its “ID required to ride” policy for the day. Those attending these events are encouraged to ride NFTA buses or the Metro Rail to the Main Circle on the South Campus and then take the UB Stampede to the North Campus. This will help minimize traffic and parking issues.
  • Beginning at 7 a.m., Slee B lot (or a portion thereof) will be reserved to maintain sufficient ADA/handicap parking for the events.
  • Also at 7 a.m., the Stadium lot will be reserved for members of the media and those attending the Sanders event at 7 p.m. in Alumni Arena.
  • Beginning at 1 p.m., the Special Event lot will be closed and reserved for patrons of the Sarah Koenig presentation at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts.
  • Parking & Transportation Services staff will be on hand, beginning at 1 p.m., to help direct students, faculty, staff and event patrons to open parking. Drivers are urged to use the Center for Tomorrow lot off of Flint Road, where they can board the Green Line shuttle to connect to Flint Loop. Green Line service will be extended through 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
  • Those who will be attending evening classes or otherwise visiting the North Campus on Monday night are asked consider parking on the north side of campus, including in the Jarvis, Furnas, Ketter and Governors lots. The north-side lots are easily accessible when entering campus via the Rensch or Hamilton entrances.
  • All reserved parking lots will reopen for use by the entire UB community at 8 p.m.

Tune in to 1620 AM for up-to-date parking-and-transportation information within a four-mile radius of the North Campus. Those with questions should email ub-parking@buffalo.edu or call 645-3943.
