Nursing faculty graduate from NIH summer institute

Jessica Castner, PhD, assistant professor of nursing, and Laurie Connors, PhD, clinical assistant professor of nursing, graduated from the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) Summer Genetics Institute.

The competitive, month-long training program provides participants with a foundation in molecular genetics that can applied for use in research, teaching and clinical practice.

Fewer than 400 researchers and clinicians have been admitted to the program. Participants receive the NIH Intramural Research Training Award, which covers the cost of attendance.

The program is sponsored by the National Institute of Nursing Research.
