Students help the underserved at largest free clinic in America

UB School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences students worked with Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy students to supply services to rural underserved patients by measuring their A1C and cholesterol, triaging, working on medical reconciliations, medically prepping tooth extraction patients, and prescription counseling. Preceptors Edward Russak and Traci Aladeen, PharmD '16, were on site to provide students with guidance during the clinic.

"Overall the trip was a great experience for our students," said Jennifer Aguilar, IPSF Outreach Chair.

The UB International Pharmaceutical Students Federation is an organization focused on outreach initiatives to underserved populations on the local, national, and international level. The organization is responsible for organizing annual international medical mission trips, annual medical mission trips to areas within the United States, and local outreach in the Western New York area throughout the year. 

Remote Area Medical Volunteer Corps is a major non-profit provider of mobile medical clinics delivering free, quality, dental, vision, and medical care to under-served and uninsured individuals.

Mission of Mercy is a community-based organization providing free healthcare and free prescription medications to the uninsured and under-insured.
