The Self-Care/Nonprescription Medicine SIG facilitates faculty exchange of ideas and innovations regarding teaching methodology, experiential education, research and scholarly activities in the self-care arena and to positively impact student learning.

In addition to self-care, Slazak’s therapeutic areas of interest include ambulatory care and medication therapy management. Her research explores patient-centered pharmacotherapy management of ambulatory disease states and the effect of pharmacist intervention on health care and economic outcomes.

“The AACP Self-Care/Nonprescription Medicines SIG has provided me with a network of faculty who share similar professional goals and interests,” Slazak says. “It ties directly to my role as coordinator of our self-care therapeutics course and my clinical and scholarly efforts in ambulatory care.”
