William A. Prescott, Jr., PharmD ’02, clinical associate professor and interim chair, pharmacy practice, has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education.
Prescott practices in acute care general pediatrics. His teaching activities focus on pediatrics, patient assessment, and leadership development, wherein he has integrated blended-learning using a flipped-classroom model, case-based learning, team-based learning, and simulation-based learning. His educational scholarship focuses on curriculum and active learning, and his clinical scholarship focuses on pediatric infectious diseases and pulmonary disease: he has published more than 50 peer-reviewed papers/abstracts.
He led a team that instituted the school's Scholars Program, designed to identify academically excellent students who have interest in post-graduate residency training. He has also served on the team that advanced application of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs) into the curriculum. He served as residency program director from 2007–2012 and as vice-chair of the Department of Pharmacy Practice from 2012-2017.
Prescott has been the recipient of the 2007 and 2011 UB SPPS Teacher of the Year Awards, the 2013 American College of Apothecaries Albert R. Rosica, Jr. Memorial Award, the 2014 UB SPPS Faculty Preceptor of the Year Award, a 2015 University at Buffalo Teaching Innovation Award, and a 2017 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
The American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education (the Journal) is the official scholarly publication of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP). Its purpose is to document and advance pharmaceutical education in the United States and internationally.
