Faculty Development & Events

In 2017, The University at Buffalo joined with other colleges and universities in the Mid- American Conference (MAC) to participate in the Academic Leadership Development Program (ALDP). We look forward to hosting the Fall 2019 MAC ALDP here in Buffalo, New York at the University at Buffalo’s Downtown Campus.

In an effort to assist new faculty members in the development of a successful career at UB, the Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs is instituting a series of Brown Bag luncheons. These luncheons are designed to help newly appointed faculty navigate the many challenges of academic life.

The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs continues its workshop series to help department chairs more effectively lead and respond to challenges they confront in their departments and/or units.   We look forward to another year of robust and engaging conversations about departmental life at UB.

The 2019 UB Academy for Higher Education Leadership Summit was held August 11-13, 2019 at the beautiful Holiday Valley Resort and Conference Center in Ellicottville New York.

In collaboration with the University Libraries and the Center for Educational Innovation, The Office of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs designed a focused, two-track curriculum for a select cohort of 20-30 recently-hired faculty to enter into a New Faculty Academy for Teaching and Scholarly Writing. Each track for a group of 10-15 is offered over four months in the fall semester, and is repeated in the spring semester, so that all participants can attend both over the course of one academic year.

To help smooth the transition to UB, and to acquaint new faculty with our leadership and academic, research, and teaching support services and resources, the office of Faculty Affairs presents a New Faculty Orientation program each year.
