Published January 12, 2024

Dear university community:

I am writing to share that J. Brice Bible has informed me of his plan to step down as vice president and chief information officer, effective February 29. Please join me in congratulating Brice as he prepares for his new role as vice president for information technology and chief information officer at the University of South Carolina.

Throughout Brice’s decade-long tenure at the University at Buffalo, he has helped foster a state-of-the-art IT environment conducive to our expanding research portfolio. As a result of his leadership, UB’s Information Technology Division (UBIT) has harnessed technology to support and enhance all aspects of our university operations, optimizing our IT practices in service of UB’s mission of academic and research excellence. Across the broader region, Brice was instrumental in developing an IT collaborative of Western New York education constituents.

To read more about Brice’s new position, please read the University of South Carolina’s release. In the coming weeks, UB’s interim vice president and chief information officer will be named. We will begin a national search for this position immediately, with School of Management Dean Ananth Iyer serving as chair.

Again, allow me to extend my appreciation to Brice for his commitment to UB’s strategic goals, and please join me in wishing him much continued success at the University of South Carolina.

Sincerely,

Satish K. Tripathi
President
