'Very ambitious plan' positions Buffalo in an upstate semiconductor tech corridor

Buffalo Business First reports Buffalo is headed in the right direction for becoming a semiconductor tech hub, as Gov. Kathy Hochul and U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer have been pushing for the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse region to become a federally designated hub.

The three cities collaborated on a proposal—the New York Semiconductor Manufacturing and Research Technology Innovation Corridor Consortium—to secure the federal funding to create that corridor. The semiconductor industry is expected to grow to a trillion-dollar industry by 2030, and the Western and Upstate New York regions have an opportunity to tap into that economy in a bigger way.
