Executive Summary

We are evaluating the healing effects of an antimicrobial mouth rinse containing chlorhexidine in patients with Type 2 diabetes after periodontal therapy.

Our goal is to evaluate the reduction of the disease-associated microbiome compared to a healthy one. We also are assessing the improvement of glycemic control as a function of successful periodontal therapy and in establishing a healthy oral microbiome.
