Jerry L. Linder Academic Achievement Award

The Minority Faculty & Staff Association (MFSA) Academic Achievement Award fund was established to provide awards to a sophomore or junior who meets high academic standards. The amount of the award varies.

The award is named in honor of Jerry Linder, who served as a Classification, Recruitment, Staffing and Salary Administration manager in the UB department of Human Resources. Jerry started at UB in 1970, and was a tireless supporter in MFSA, serving as president from 2009 to 2016. She passed away in 2022.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Member of historically underrepresented groups (African American or African descent; Latino/Hispanic American or Native American).
  • Full-time sophomore or junior UB student.
  • Minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA.
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  • Evidence of community and/or university service.
  • All disciplines eligible to apply.

  • Two letters of recommendation (Faculty, Staff or Employer).
  • Well written essay of future goals.
