A Game for the Ages

Check out the highlights from UB's epic seven-overtime loss to Western Michigan on Oct. 7 at UB Stadium.

It will go down as one of the most incredible college football games ever played. And it happened on Oct. 7, during UB's Homecoming and Family Weekend, when the Bulls fell to Western Michigan, 71-68, in an NCAA-record-tying seven-overtime epic. Here are some other records set that night, along with one bizarre incident:

  • 597 Passing yards, a MAC and UB record set by junior QB Drew Anderson
  • 139 Combined points, the most ever in an NCAA game
  • 7 Touchdown passes, a program record, also set by Anderson
  • 1 Viral video, after Western Michigan tight end Donnie Ernsberger caught a TD pass during the first overtime and his sister Shalene, thinking that was the game-winner, rushed onto the field to congratulate him. Alas, the game wasn’t over, and Shalene had to be escorted from the stadium six overtimes before it actually ended.
