Kathi James, director of the UB Child Care Center’s (UBCCC) North Campus site, is the recipient of the 2016 Marcia Brady Excellence in Child Care Award from the SUNY Early Care and Education Leaders (SEEL).

The Brady Award recognizes administrators, staff and community partners who have made significant achievements in the improvement and advancement of early care and education within the SUNY child care community. James received the award at SEEL’s annual conference held earlier this month in Saratoga Springs.

James joined UBCCC in 1999 and has served in a variety of roles at the center. She started as teacher in the infant room before moving into administrative roles, including assistant director, administrative assistant, program coordinator and now director.

Outside UB, James is active in the local child care community, serving as a member of the Association for the Education of Young Children of Western New York’s Board of Directors, the Erie Community College Early Childhood Advisory Board and the Infancy Leadership Circle of Western New York. She is also a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, the National Coalition of Campus Children's Centers and the SUNY Early Care and Education Leaders.
