With a doubleheader sweep at Binghamton, UB extended its winning streak to three games. UB defeated Binghamton 5-2 and 4-0 on Sunday, behind some great pitching.

In the first game, Tyler Balentine pitched a complete game and improved his record to a perfect 3-0 on the season. Balentine went 7.0 innings, giving up two runs-one earned-and just four hits.

In the second game, UB senior Tom Januchowski almost made history as he pitched a complete game, one-hit shutout and carried a no-hitter into the final inning. Januchowski went 7.0 innings, giving up no runs and one hit while striking out seven. He took a no-hitter into the top of the seventh before giving up a lead-off single in that final inning.

The previous week, the Bulls had traveled to Pittsburgh for a couple of doubleheaders, dropping both games with Duquesne by a score of 3-0, and splitting with Pittsburgh.

At Duquesne on March 29, Jeff Robertson took a loss to fall to 0-3 on the year and Pete Selden fell to 1-1.

Against Pittsburgh on March 30, UB lost the first game 8-3 as Matt Rogan took the loss. In the second game, Brandon DiCesare led the team to a 3-2 win as he went 2-for-3 from the plate with two runs scored. Scott Mruczek knocked in the winning run in the last inning as Januchowski picked up the win in relief.

Tom Januchowski pitched a complete-game one-hitter at Binghamton University Sunday to propel the Bulls to a doubleheader sweep over the Colonials. Januchowski had a no-hitter going until giving up the lone hit to the first batter of the seventh inning. He also finished with seven strike-outs. Januchowski also picked up a win in relief earlier in the week as the Bulls downed Pittsburgh 3-2.

Biaunca McFarland won the triple jump at the Ohio University Invitational. McFarland's jump of 38' 11 1/2" also set a new school record in the event, breaking Alycia Croak's 1999 mark of 38' 9 3/4." McFarland helped earned the Bulls a third-place team finish in the seven-team meet

The Bulls played their first games in Buffalo in 14 years on March 30, traveling down Main Street to Canisius for a doubleheader. UB dropped both games to the Griffins, 6-1 and 8-0. Stacee Madden had the Bulls lone RBI in game one.

The Bulls then headed to Hamilton on Friday for the Colgate Invitational. UB dropped all six games and are now 4-22 on the season.

In the opener against St. Bonaventure, the Bulls jumped out to a 3-1 lead in the first inning when Kim Lawrence coaxed a bases-loaded walk to start the rally. However, the Bonnies erupted for six runs in the fourth off starter Andrea Sage to take the 12-5 win.

Against the host Red Raiders, UB dropped a 5-3 decision, with Madden knocking in a pair of runs and Jennifer Moore also picking up an RBI.

The Bulls collected just four hits in their 9-4 loss to Columbia on Saturday. Moore was 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a run. Madden, Lawrence and Jessica Kensy each had an RBI.

An extra-inning contest against Stony Brook was UB's best shot at snapping its losing streak. In the international tiebreaker system that is used in college softball to determine a winner, a runner is placed at second base to begin the inning. After UB failed to push the run across in the top of the eighth, Stony Brook scored the game winner for the 3-2 decision.

Eight errors turned out to be the Bulls' downfall in their 14-3 loss to Dartmouth.

The tournament ended with a 9-3 loss to Manhattan, as the fielding bug bit the Bulls again with seven errors in the contest.
