The men's basketball team snapped an eight-game losing streak by defeating Central Michigan University 71-58, on Jan. 12, recording the team's first win for interim head coach Reggie Witherspoon.
The Bulls led by one at halftime, but the Chippewas came back to regain the lead five minutes into the second half. CMU led 42-40 with 14:45 to play before UB fought back. The Bulls took the lead back on a layup by Louis Campbell and the Chippewas took it back on a jumper by Luke Johnson with 10:35 to play. UB then used a 7-1 run to establish a lead. A three-pointer by Nikolai Alexeev gave the Bulls a 46-44 lead with 10:16 left, a lead UB would not give up the rest of the game.
However, the Bulls could not continue their winning streak as they dropped an 89-53 decision at defending MAC champion Kent on Saturday. Jon Kleidon led the Bulls in scoring with 10 points.

At 157 pounds, senior Jake Partlow went 2-1 over the weekend for the wrestling team as he won in overtime against his Clarion opponent to set up the team's 18-17 win over the Golden Eagles on Friday. He also defeated Tom Seryak from MAC opponent Ohio, 10-4, in the Bulls loss to the Bobcats on Sunday. His only loss came Sunday against Edinboro's Ben Boozer, ranked 13th in the nation.
Freshman Katie Blazewski scored a career-high 26 points in the women's basketball team's loss against Kent State. She also scored 11 points in the 56-45 loss against Northern Illinois.

Kent State 74, UB 65
The women's basketball team dropped to 12-3 overall and 2-2 in the Mid-American Conference with a loss to the East Division's top team, Kent, 74-65 Saturday in Alumni Arena. Freshman forward Katie Blazewski recorded a career-high 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds to lead the Bulls in only its third loss of the season and second in the league.
The loss was the team's first in Alumni Arena this season.
Swimming
Men
UB 131, St. Bonaventure 110
The men's swimming team won its second meet in a row as it downed St. Bonaventure, 131-110, in Olean. Dan Hickey continued his successful swimming this season as he led the Bulls with victories in the 100 freestyle (47.05) and 200 freestyle (1:41.72). He was also a member of the victorious 400 freestyle relay (3:13.04) team, along with Josh Pun, Dexter Tatum and John Nille.
Hickey set a new Reilly Center pool record in the 200 freestyle, marking the second consecutive meet in which he has set a new standard for the host institution's pool.
Other UB winners included Kevin Kelly (1000 freestyle - 9:50.79), Jason McLachlan (200 individual medley - 1:58.51), Dave Sofer (1-meter dive - 221.55 pts.) and Eric Stimson (200 backstroke - 1:56.61).

Edinboro 26, UB 9
UB extended its winning streak to seven straight matches Friday with an 18-17 come-from-behind win over Clarion in Alumni Arena.
The Bulls trailed Clarion after five matches before bouncing back behind a fall at 1:49 by Shawn Kegel at 133 pounds. Then trailing, 17-12, UB got a clutch 3-1 overtime win by Jake Partlow at 157 pounds, setting up the decisive match at 165 pounds.
Sophomore Gary Cooper posted an impressive 9-5 win over Josh Weaver at 165 pounds to earn UB a one-point victory.
But the Bulls would suffer their first two dual-meet defeats of the season Sunday in Athens, Ohio.
UB dropped a 23-10 decision to Mid-American Conference rival Ohio University to fall to 2-1 in conference action, and also lost to No. 10-ranked Edinboro, 26-9.
Winning against Ohio was Charlie Voorhees at 125 pounds, Partlow at 157 pounds and Josh States at 184 pounds.
Against Edinboro, Buffalo received a forfeit win at 125, while the only other winner for the team was Ryan Bentley at 149 pounds.
